Fisherman on a Perfect Sunset, originally uploaded by Sir Francis Canker Jones.
Last Tuesday we had great fun fleshing out the bare bones of a story about a fisherman and a rather extraordinary fish. THe Piglets were given a synopsis of a story which they had to retell in their own words. It’s great how free you can be with your writing when you don’t have the pressure of trying to work out the plot. I loved how each person in the group added in their own quirky details that were unique to them. Here’s a fantastic retelling by 7 year old Stani. Stani is a quieter member of the group who often does great work but doesn’t always like reading it out at the end of the sessions - I know how he feels! Anyway, I’m sharing this for him. Well done Stani!
The fish wish
One day, a fisherman that lived on his boat, went fishing. He was trying to catch a cod, but instead of a cod he got a beautiful, beautiful fish. The fish was plated with gold and silver. The fisherman felt a mysterious feeling inside him. The fish then suddenly said ‘I will grant you a wish at midnight.’ The fisherman thought thinking about this was a difficult task! He had three dilemmas: his father was blind, his family was very poor and he longed to have a baby. What else?
So, next midnight he said that he wished that his father could see a baby in a cradle made out of money. Nothing happened. The fisherman went home, opened the door and, well, what do you know – this wish had come true! He was so happy that he had a party. And they all lived happily ever after.
See you next week,
Ella
